See what I meant about me blogging? Exactly! I wasn't here for nearly two month and in the meantime not only updated my fics - "Solitaire" and "From This Day Forward" (twice) but also started a new one "A Peculiarly Pureblood Problem" and posted
four(!!!) chapters thereoff. Someone would think I could at least make a brief entry to tell of them? Not likely.
Naturally I have a lot of excuses - summer is a hot tourist season, meaning it is by far the busiest for tourist agents (aka me), besides I have a lot of RL things to take care off, following my aunt's demise (coming into inheritance seems simple enough, seing as my mother is her by far closest relative and there was no will whatsoever, but in fact it means a lot of paper work and spending entirely inordinate amount of
my precious free time(!!!) meeting various officals and such). Well, sorry, I'm rambling but I had to unload it all. And it didn't change the fact that I'm a poor blogger and that's it.
Well, now I've updated the fanfiction entry with the latest chapters, and for whoever may be interested the current status is like this:
- with "From This Day Forward" I have one, at most two chapters to go before finish,
- with "A Peculiarly Pureblood Problem" it will be two, maximum three chapters, seeing as they are usually a little shorter, and
- with "Solitaire" we are barely nearing the beginning of the second arc (maybe two or three chapters before it), which will be approximately the same length as the first, and will concentrate more heavily on Kaname and Zero's growing friendship/understanding and Kaname's ancestral past that ultimately influences the future. That said - there still will be scenes with other characters (this story is by far too epic, lol, to avoid it), notably Shiki and Takuma; Cain, Luca and Rima; Yagari and Seiren; Aidou and Yori; and Yuuki, Luca, Seiren and Yori - to name but a few. A pair of OCs will make their way into the story as well - mostly in Kaname's flashbacks from the ancient times.
Now, what makes me
especially angry at the lack of time is that I have such a number of bunnies that are for now just that - "plot bunnies", whithering in the confines of my mind! I'll least a few here, mostly so that I remember about them myself, but if any kind soul would bug me about them too it would be most... eh... inspiring :)
- The most prominent bunny for now is the one I even have a title for "In the Abscence of Something Vital" (but I do not want to start on it before I finish with FTDF and PPP), which can be considered as a preface to "Picture-Perfect" and "A Peculiraly Pureblood Problem", since it deals with how Kaname and Zero came to be together. To sketch the outline roughly - in this AU Yuuki was never turned back into vampire, though she is a sister of Kaname and bespelled pureblood and Rido did come for her and had been dealt with by Zero. Also - Ichiru is dead and Zero is stable, both Zero and Kaname have finished the Academy and are working now - Zero at the HA, and Kaname at his family business he "inherited" after Ichiou's demise and his (Kaname's) coming of age. Yuuki on the other hand is still studying due to failing her final exams. Then one day Kaien Cross receives the invitation to open a branch of the Academy in Europe and leaves to there with Yuuki, leaving the two boys to more or less supervise the original Academy before the new Rector takes charge and new prefects are trained properly. The reasons for Yuuki's going are both objective - to help her adoptive father with the new school and subjective - she is confused by apparently having feelings for both Yuuki and Kaname and tired of "not having any normal teenaged life" because either one follow her around at all times and at the same time can't bear each other's presence. This is her chance to enjoy the freedom for a while and she takes it with pleasure (being per usual blind to the suffering of both guys she leaves behind). Kaname and Zero meanwhile are left to work together, and also to live as neighbors since Cross has lent Kaname an appartment in the same building that he owns and that Zero canonically lives in - so that the pureblood also stays close to the Academy. Well, it starts from here and then follows the events of how the boys, starting from open resentment work their way to grudging friendship and eventually affection, all the while coming to grips with Yuuki's abscence in their different yet very similar ways (hence the title). No blood bonds in here, since I sort of grown tired with blood bond induced feelings. Here they will develop in a natural way, even if it will be difficultly and reluctantly. Sorry for rambling but it is gonna be a longish story...
- Now another one is pretty short - a oneshot I think, an angsty moment from perhaps the same AU, where Zero is badly wounded on the assignment and Kaname barely reaches him in time to save. It is supposed to be little action, more concentrating on Kaname's reaction after the danger of losing someone that important to him.
- Then there is a story I promised to Good Evening on FFnet, a non-con IchiouxHaruka scene about the time when Rido was put under the Council's guard the first time (after Kaname's awakening). I only have tentative plotline for it, but I do not even want to think it through thoroughly, for fear that it will grow stale before I even start.
- And well, the last one is just an (post "In the Abscence") idea of what if Yuuki (human and married to a human) gives birth to a baby, who is a vampire - due to her real being a bespelled pureblood? Or maybe, possibly, twins - one of which is a vampire? Incomprehension, angst, Cross on tinterhooks and Kaname and Zero seriously thinking about adopting the baby. Somewhat ridiculous idea, lol, but it obviously demands "In the Abscence" to be written first and then we'll see.
Well, you see? All I need is time, time and time again...
